Trauma Counselling

Traumatic events can be overwhelming and frightening and can leave a person feeling very anxious and stressed with long-lasting and disabling effects.

Counselling and psychotherapy can help with traumas by helping you :

  • understand your responses to the traumatic event.
  • deal with the effects of trauma eg nightmares and flashbacks.
  • relieve accompanying symptoms eg depression, anxiety and loss of confidence.

NICE* guidelines currently recommend a course of trauma-focussed psychological treatment using both CBT** and EMDR***

I offer :

  • both CBT and EMDR. (I hold a certificate in EMDR accredited by EMDR Europe.)
  • an initial free consultation to find out more about trauma counselling and whether this would be suitable for you.
  • sessions of 60 to 90 minutes duration.
  • daytime and early evening appointments.

Now I can run through it and feel quite relaxed."
