Most of us, at some point in our lives, will experience difficulties or painful events and, if left unresolved, our quality of life and health can be affected.
Counselling is a service, a 'talking treatment' to help people who wish to resolve difficulties and make changes in their lives. It provides a supportive, confidential and non-judgemental environment where you can explore aspects of your life and express your feelings and concerns.
It can help you to gain greater insight and an understanding of yourself and your difficulties. As a result you can attain a new perspective on your problems and approach them in a different way.
The process can help you sort out confused feelings, take control of your problems, increase your self-confidence and gain a greater sense of wellbeing. It does not involve giving advice or prescribing solutions; the emphasis is on helping people help themselves.
"I am feeling a lot better now and every week that passes I notice a difference....
I am beginning to take some control back
into my life."
"Counselling has helped me make my own decisions, to do what I want to do and not what I am told to do."
